Note that with the Service Level #18 of APL2 for Sun Solaris

    CTN '1 2 3 4'     returns the vector 1 2 3 4
CTN 'three'       returns the vector [iota]0

but CTN '1 2 three 4' returns the vector [iota]0 as well, so that the
                                                 numbers 1, 2 and 4 are lost

Jean Pierre,

I am afraid David's description was not quite correct.   CTN is designed to
return only simple arrays.   If all the data cannot be translated to numbers,
a null result is returned.

Try:
DIS CTN{each}(~x{eps}' ()'){partition}x{is}'  2 (1 2 three 4)   3   four
5'
?????????????????????????
  .  .  . ?? .  . ?? .
 :2::1::2: 0 :4::3: 0 :5:
 ~? ~? ~? ~?~? ~? ~?~?
?????????????????????????

I meant that you could apply CTN to each of the tokens after partitioning
the vector on blanks.
I thought this was obvious since my post was in response to a post that
use QuadEA on each token.

Sorry about the way that came out.  It uses the box drawing characters
and looks great in APL.
