The best reference is the Iversion Software's
"Introduction to J and J Dictionary". The cost,
 I think is 40$.

     Iverson Software Inc.
     33 Major Street
     Toronto, Ontario, M5S 2K9
     Phone : (416)-925-6096
     FAX   : (416)-488-7559

But if can experiment with J verbs without having
to have it at first. Check out :

Keith Smillie's 43 page paper called "Some Notes on Introducing
J with Statistical Examples" which is available at ftp.cs.ualberta.ca
in pub/smillie/intj.ps.  Programs from the paper are in the file
     intj.doc.

Feel free to post to comp.lang.apl.

There is a mac extension that lets
you use J/APL for mac scripting,
which comes with the latest release
of Tickle (tcl for mac), and I'd like
to try it out.
