CF not showing up in Visual Studio.net after download and install from Microsoft

I downloaded and installed Compact Framwork 1.0 for Visual Basic.net so I
could develop for Pocket PC 2002.  When I opened a new project in Visual
Studio, there was no platform for pocket pc.   It did find my device during
the install of CF 1.0.   Does anyone have any suggestions what I may have
done wrong?

Thanks for any help,

Frank Hayes

The CF isn't something you download (I've got no idea what you ended up
downloading).  The CF comes as part of Studio 2003, along with designer
support.  You can also download the CF QFE for Platform Builder to include
it in your own OS builds.

CF not showing up in Visual Studio.net after download and install from Microsoft
Chris,

We downloaded the latest release from Microsoft off of their webpage to be
able to develop for Pocket PC 2002 devices(I thought).  I have Visual
Basic.Net (Standard) and want to do PocketPC development like I was doing
using eVB.  My plan was to move to .Net development based upon the opinion
that eVB would be going away in the future and the reality that I was having
a hard time finding technical information on eVB.  I felt that I would have
a better chance of finding information and support using .Net.
When I select a new project, I do not get the Pocket Pc2002 Development
environment as an option.

Thanks,

Frank

Hi,

AFAIK, you need Visual Studio 2003 (Pro or higher Editions -- the Standard
Edition will not work).

Again, I have no idea what you actually downloaded.  Maybe the PPC 2002 SDK?
There is no available CF download other than the PB QFE, which would do you
no good.

For SDP you need Studio 2003.  The individual langage versions are not
enough.  See this FAQ item:

Maybe you downloaded the run-time component for PPC 2002, but you must have
Visual *Studio*.NET 2003, not just VB.NET or VC#.NET, etc. to develop using
.NET CF.

Thanks,

That was the problem, we were trying the Standard Edition.
