You should be able to open files at will using the CFile command.  In fact,
many of my programs use "several" files to comprise the actual "document"
date (even in SDI).  There must be something else going on that is
preventing you from doing this like permission to the drive you're trying
to get to or number of FILE= handles or something.  Could you send up a
copy of the few lines you use to open and close the file.  Maybe that would
help us figure it out.
