Are you sure that the MFC42.dll is the version corresponding to the
version of VC++ that you are using? I know that the VC5 dll's will not
work with VC6 (though the VC6 dll's should work with VC5 (not the debug
versions, though)).

I don't have VC6, so I don't know what the current version is, but you
should be able to check if the version you have in your system directory
is the same as the one on your VC6 CD.
