How can an external application get the content of the active Internet Explorer
Application?

HOWTO: Get IHTMLDocument2 from a HWND
When you have the IHTMLDocument2 then you can do the following to get at the
html:-

In you code you will need to #import "MSHTML.tlb" to setup com classes for
html.

MSHTML::IHTMLDocument2Ptr pDoc;

// Use the technique as described in article Q249232  to set pDoc;

MSHTML::IHTMLDocument3Ptr pDoc3;

pDoc3 = pDoc;

CComBSTR theHtml;
theHtml.AppendBSTR( pDoc3_1->documentElement->outerHTML ));

// There you have it!
