Immediately after rebuilding a project in VStudio 5.0 (incuding
Debug/MainApp.exe) I go to run it and I get the message that
Debug/MainApp.exe is out-of-date and has to be rebuilt yet again.

I used to get this message (appropriately) when I had the default
configuration set to Release and I was trying to run the de{*filter*}.  However,
that is not the case here.

I do however have a number of DLL sub-projects and have been screwing with
some settings and dependency switches.  Any ideas?   Any excellent books for
guidance on project/sub-project mangaement?
