Can't build platform sdk sample files

I'm getting this error when building the makefile.
I think I installed VC6 and the platform SDK right.

make sure that you

1. run the exe to extract the files.
2. run the setup.exe to install the files (register debug dlls, reg entries,
setup compiler for lib's, etc)

that help?

Well, I installed VC6 first, then the SP4, then the Platform SDK (from the
CD). I'm aware that you have to check the path and the source dirs, lib
dirs, and etc. I've done those and they're okay. I'm don't know what went
wrong.

make sure that you have the d3dframe.lib library on your system. d3dframe is
a helper project that was supplied with dx 7. are u using dx 7 sdk or 8? if
it's 8 then you wont have the d3dframe .lib to use. which is why i rolled
back to dx7 for now.
