Malicious Email now launches IE, where is file ?

A piece of email from outlook express seems to have
altered my start up when I log on to launch IE to some
weird site. ( The home has not changed ) - but something
is lauching IE and providing a URL.

So far I have been unable to locate what could have been
modified to cause this. Any ideas ??  I am using WIN 2 K
professional

Thanks Andrew

Hi,

As far as I know, some registry settings can result in such behaviors. For
example:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Hope this helps!

In Win2k it could also be under
hklm\software\microsoft\winnt\currentversion\winlogon\userinit

also, there are some autorun functions associated with the CommandProcessor
under

hklm\software\commandprocessor\autorun
