Object doesn't support this property or method
Folks,
My installation of IE 4 preview 2 is terribly sick. Scripts on web
pages often can't call Automation objects. Uninstalling & reinstalling
IE doesn't help. I can't install InetSDK or work with my controls and
Automation objects until I solve this. I'm desparate for suggestions.
I've seen a couple dozen posts in various newsgruops that ask about
what must be the same problem, so I'm sure there are hundreds of
frustrated developers like me out there.
Here are the details:
I'm running NT 4 SP 3.
The symptom is that scripting code on web pages cannot invoke methods
on many Automation objects. When the line of scripting code is hit, IE
puts up a box that says "Object doesn't support this property or
method" and mentions the particular object and method in question.
I can't install InetSDK because its installation script (which is on a
web page and uses Automation objects) experiences this bug.
The problem doesn't occur on all Automation servers or controls. For
example, the Calendar control works fine.
I've tried completely reinstalling IE 4 pr 2 without success. The
problem appears to be elsewhere.
I've also tried installing just the new scripting de{*filter*}, which seems
to work fine but doesn't shed any light on the problem.
I'm beginning to consider reformatting my hard disk and starting over.
I'm hopeful someone has a less drastic suggestion.
Thanks!
Tom Conner
