Linking to 16-bit DLL from Win32 code

Can it be done? Or conversely, can you call Win32 functions from a 16-bit
app?

I need to explicitly link to a 16-bit DLL, but I also want to use
Shell_NotifyIcon to install an icon in the system tray. The app will always
be run under Win95.

Any help is sincerely appreciated.

You can do it but it requires a lot of work.  You will need to look up
THUNKing in the online docs.  You might consider an easier method such as
making a 16bit exe which creates a hidden window (nd loads the DLL) then
using DDE or OLE have you 32bit exe call the 16bit exe (whihc in turn calls
the DLL)
