Is there a way to find out :

1. if a user is logged on by using their email address
2. Getting thier IP Address from the same Email address

I have a game I am writting that is internet play only between users of
known email addresses. I would like real time playing and NOT email moves.
  Is there a way for me to find out if they are logged onto the internet and
then get their current IP address??

Yea, the thery about it is there,

you can get the IP address from the email packet header, if I remember right
its recieving IP then sender IP and then the data...

But, how you get hold of this in vb (who knows) - (well, i expect alot of
people, just not me)

When someone sends you an e-mail you can sometimes get their IP from the
headers, but if that IP is dynamic then when they log off then on they will
have a different IP from before.  Note that is also the IP from an E-mail,
NOT and IP from an e-mail address.

I stand corrected - i totally forgot about those sneeky dynamic IP's
