Prevent user from logging at different computers

Hi,

I am developing a client-server application which will run
on a LAN.

I have prevented a user from logging into the application
from two different computers at the same time by
authenticating the user and computer name. If the user
logs out from the application in the normal mode, there is
no problem.

However, if the application terminates abruptly, the user
is still flagged as logged in, and is not not allowed to
log in again.

I would appreciate help from anyone who has any ideas on
how to work this out. Thanks in advance.

Maybe send out an IP broadcast with a packet containing the IP address
and user ID.  Then if your app picks it up and the user is on another
machine you shut it down?  Have a look at the winsock control use UDP
and bind it to a port.  Send a broadcast out to 255.255.255.255, not
to polite to your LAN but it depends on the frequency and of course
your router should keep it from any WAN sending.  If you do it at
startup and keep the packet small should work ok.
