Difference between Task, Process and Thread ID

Hi all,

I would just like some clarity on the differences betweent the above three
if anyone can shed dome light. If one uses the Shell function within VB it
returns the Task Id - in any way related to Process ID? The Thread ID I
assume is the primary thread associated with the process?

If I am even on track here what about successfully moving between the
different ID's - i.e. retrieving the Process ID from the Task ID - the
Thread ID from the Process ID etc.

I noticed one answer further down stating the EnumThreadWindows procedure
to retrieve the handle of the main window although this expects a process
handle (have to lauch app using CreateProcess??)

Any help will be appreciated
