"Shell" to an Internet Explorer Shortcut

We have a VB5/6 application that has a companion intranet-based reporting
system.  The main application is not an intranet app.  The users want to
have a link inside the main app to kick-off the reporting app.  There is
already a desktop IE shortcut to the reporting piece.  The question is how
to you execute the an Internet Shortcut inside a VB app?  Since it is a .url
not an .exe, Shell won't work.

Thanks in advance.

"Shell" to an Internet Explorer Shortcut

Use the ShellExecute API.

    ShellExecute Me.hwnd, "open", "http://" & lblWebAddress.Caption, "", _
                     SYSTEM_ROOT, SW_SHOWNORMAL
