VB5 and Windows XP Pro ???

Dar all ,

I am in a critical choice situation for the evolution of my project.
I am in a phase of choosing a new platform for our application, the choice
is mainly directed by different tools we are suing and hardware  stuff. Both
are compatible 2000 pro and XP pro.

Now my auestion are as follow :

1 - Does VB5 works fine under XP pro (as it does under 2000 Pro) ?
2 - How the licencing stuff is going on with XP ? Note that all our system
are prepared using the unattended methode, and at the time of the
installation we introduce the OEM licence Number
3 - What would be the best choice in order to guaranty, stability ,
security, efficiency, 2000 or XP pro ?

Thanks for your prompt answer

Hi Serge,

1. VB5 is compatible with Windows XP. Based on my experience, it should
work well on Windwos XP.
2. I haven't fully understood your question, please specify more detail.
3. Generally, they are same at stability and security. You need to have
latest sp installed and disable IIS if necessary.

VB5 and Windows XP Pro ???
hi luke,

In point number 2 I was meaning that how is the registration procedure for
OEM like us ?
is it needed to register each copy by phone or mail or whatever way?
If this is the cas with XP pro, it is a problem for us becasue we prepare
each customer PC with the unattended procedure and the only place we have to
enter something is the product Key.

What is the situation at microsoft for this topic?

Thanks

Hi Serge,

For OEM Windows XP, you need to contact the vendor of your computers for
register procedure.
