Jet 3.5 or Jet 4.0

 Jet 3.5 or Jet 4.0

Hi Everyone,

I have kind of a strange thing happening and cannot answer a users question
for them.  I wrote an application that uses the Jet 3.5 ADO provider for
Access 97 and the Jet 4.0 provider for Access 2000.  The user has Access 97
SR-2 installed.  He told me that the section of the application that I had
written for Access 2000 works for him and the section of the application
that I had written for Access 97 does not work for him.  This applications
lets the user select a database and the table that they want to transfer.
He is getting the schema using the Jet 4.0 provider.  I have tried the
application on an Access 97 database without service packs and I get the
schema data with the Jet 3.5 provider.  For now I told him to go ahead and
use which ever one worked for him.

Can anyone explain why Access 97 SR-2 databases are available using the Jet
4.0 instead of the Jet 3.5 provider?

Backwards compatability? If you are really using Jet 3.5, and not Jet 3.51,
you should upgrade.
