Should I convert db from Access 97 to Access 2000
Have an application reading from an Access 97 database using ADO
2.1.1.3711.11 (GA) and Ms Jet 4.0 OLEDB. The 2.1.1.3711.11 manifest
mentions that Jet 4.0 databases support Unicode and that when reading
a 3.5 database, Jet converts the 3.5 ANSI string data to Unicode. It
suggests this is a performance hit and recommends that 3.5 databases
be converted to 4.0. The MDAC 2.5 manifest then seems to contradict
this by saying the information is incorrect.
Should I upgrade my 3.5 (Access 97) database to 4.0 (Access 2000) or
not?
If so, how can I do that. I don't have a copy of Access 2000, but I
suppose I could acquire it if necessary. Is there another way?
Thanks
