ADO transactions don't work (BeginTrans, CommitTrans, RollbackTrans)

the MSDN online lib says that on client-side some of the methods of ado
classes doesn't work.

In the online help for transactions (Connection.BeginTrans, .CommitTrans,
.RollbackTrans) it is the same, they doesn't work on client side, although
we can call these functions without any exception with Visual C++.

Without transactions ADO can not handle some conflicts or rollback
errorhandling is impossible...

We also see in a DB/2 trace that the database is in exclusive access by our
system although the system closes the recordset object after editing some
rows. So that other systems for example cannot make a "lock table" to this
When the system ends, the table is released, but not before, because the
commit seems not to work...? or the connection object or other ADO objects
are still existing? Or do we have to release the dispatches of some objects
to loose the connection to the table?

what's going on here?
