SQL Server 2000 and MS XP

I have a question about the possibility using SQL Server 2000 in
combination with Windows XP Home Edition. I'm planning to buy a new
computer and many new computers are pre-installed with XP. Is is a
combination that works or do I have to get another Windows version (for
instance Windows 2000?)
Thanks for your attention!
