I have tried and tried.... and tried

Concerning MSDN's "step by step" on how to create a form with
parent/child heirarchy, I have tried and tried, but
it doesn't seem to work.

Could someone please follow it and see if you also cannot get
it to work,  (or maybe I've lost a few brain cells)...

It's called  "Create a Master/Detail Form"  and it can be found
at  MSDN Help files under:

VBDocumentation/UsingVB/Data Access Guide/Interacting with data in MS Jet

HOPEFULLY, PLEASE CONFIRM THAT IT DOESN'T WORK FOR YOU.
I'D HATE TO ADMIT I'M LOSING IT !

What are you trying to do .. perhaps the answer can be made easier by
explaining your issue directly.  Or is there something very specific in ther
example that you need beyond just creating 2 data linked forms?

Do you just want to make a master/detail database search form, like an
extended QBF?

If that is your question (maybe, maybe not)

maybe this will help:

Thanks.  Actually I am not trying to do anything.  I was just following the
step by step presentation in the MSDN help file.  I  am learning VB's
data bound stuff, and I just started going down the list under the
"Interacting with data..." subtopic.  I tried the "creating a connection...
creating a data environment, creating a databound form, creating a
data grid",  and they all work fine.  However, on the next step, when I
tried "creating the master/detail  I simply cannot get the darn thing
to work.  So I really don't have a "project" in mind, ... just following
instructions

Concerning MSDN's "step by step" on how to create a form with
parent/child heirarchy, I have tried and tried, but
it doesn't seem to work.

I've posted this before and got two responses that say that
is DOES work.  Well, sorry.  I have THOROUGHLY gone thru this
time after time after time, again, and again, in VERY minute
detail being EXTREMELY careful.  ... and I still can't get it to work.
YOU PEOPLE WHO SAY IT WORKS MUST (I SAY MUST!) BE DOING
SOMETHING ELSE THE IS NOT WRITTEN IN THE TEXT.

The text is found in MSDN help file at:
VB Documentation/Using VB/Data Access Guide/ Interacting w data/ Create
Master-Detail Form

I get up to the point where the text says "Finally, define the relationship
between the parent and child..."  but when I do what it says, I get
NO list of child fields and NO list of parent fields.  They are both blank.
And I get an error message "At least one relation definition must be
defined."  How do I solve this ?

Don,
open your VB help, click on the 'search' tab and enter "datareport1"
Down about 5 lines, select 'Creating a simple data report'
Then click on the 'display' tab
This is a better example of a data report, less verbiage and it works if you
follow the instructions
