Microsoft's Mastering Visual Basic 4.0 Cd states that the CancelUpdate method can
be used with a data control to canel changes to a record or cancel the AddNew method
before an update is done.

Microsoft's Visual Basic Online which came with the Vb 4.0 software does not list
CancelUpdate as a method for a data control.

None of the books that I have purchase on VB list CancelUpdate as a data control
method.
When I use the CancelUpdate in the click event of a Cancel command button I get
a 'method or data member not found' message.

That brings me back to my subject
Who's right Microsoft or Microsoft?

I also found problem in Mastering VB CD on Tooltip.  I think CD is not
updated or written properly.

It isn't a Data Control method, but a Recordset method. Maybe that is
where you are getting hung up.
