I want to develop my first business application using a SQL server,
till now I've used only DAO and JET database in network.
In the  VB 5 Enteprise pack I got the CD "MS SQL Server 6.5 -
Developer Edition".
Can I use this CD to install a working and reliable server for my
customers? What about the license: can I distribute the server into
the CD for each customer?

Hi,  No you cannot..  They will need to purchase SQL Server AND the
appropriate number of licenses for use.  For distributable applications, you
need to use a backend that is allowed to be distributed.  For example, you
can create and distribute Access databases with your apps HOWEVER you cannot
distribute some of the libraries for Access.  (Check the Microsoft Website
for licensing and distribution requirements).   There are other database
engines you can use and distribute - you need to check around for costs and
requirements for each.
