Access97 reading Access95 db's

 Access97 reading Access95 db's

I have an application which needs to read Access95 databases
off of a CD (so they are all read-only)

I've found if the user has Access97 installed on their machine,
it will fail because somehow, Access is trying to update the old
database before it can read it, and it can't because it's on a CD.
This is unacceptable. We are willing to output our data on Access97
databases, but we can't find ourselves in the same situation should
Microsoft do the same thing with the next version of their Access
software.

Is there some way to force Access97 to look at Access95 db's
without trying to update them? It's just READING them, for crying
out loud.

You can simply "enable' the old version by clicking on Open Database
in the Convert/Open Database dialog. This does *not* make any
permanent changes to the database stucture.
