Hi Matt,
We can relate to what you are going through. Our Reporting Studio product,
now in version 3, has been evolving over the last 3 year.s It is a flexible
end-user ad hoc reporting tool with many other capabilities designed to meet
the needs of a sophisticated data analyst. Among its features are
List report supports unlimited dynamic grouping and sorting.
Powerful crosstab capability lets you summarize multiple measures
simultaneously.
Comparison report has flexible any-to-any relationship for
handling time dimensions: you can compare results for any one period with
any other period. Time periods may be specified on relative basis (updated
automatically with change in report date) or absolute basis (fixed time
period). Custom time periods can be created & saved.
Custom filters can be saved for use with any report object.
Exception Highlighting - low and high thresholds, color options
for each.
Top "n" filtering includes dataset total, total for top "n"
portion and optional "all other" total.
Drill-down: Can see the detail data underlying the displayed item
by double-clicking the line. Filtering, layout and title will be
automatically set based on the item being drilled.
Graph creation - bar, pie, line charts with a simple 2-step
operation after the base report displays.
Unique Fact Sheet is a scorecard-style report that combines
multiple reports and graphs onto one page
Report specs can be saved as Templates (.rpx), i.e. report uses
the newest database of the specified type, or as Specs (.rpt) - the report
always uses the database used when it was initially created.
Saved reports and FactSheets can be collected into an unlimited
number of Books (weekly, monthly, etc.) with saved specs for later re-use.
Books can also contain MS office documents (Word docs, Excel
sheets, Access reports) which become part of the book document complete with
page numbers and table of contents entries.
Books and FactSheets can be filtered to produce a single document,
e.g. reports for a particular store - or run within a filter loop to produce
an individual document for each store.
Let me know if you would like a complete reviewer's guide and/or demo.
