Has Anyone Upgraded from CR 8.0 to 8.5?

Has Anyone Upgraded from CR 8.0 to 8.5?

We are currently running CR 8.0 on an NT4 (sp6) machine.

We bought the 8.5 upgrade, but I'm a little bit afraid to put it on. Here's
why:

There are no upgrade instructions in the manual.

I called Seagate, and the guy told me I have to completely uninstall 8.0
before intalling the "upgrade."

However, there is no uninstall program, he sent me a batch file and told me
I'd have to clean the registry.

He said that when installing, I will get an error, and need to browse to the
correct directory.

This sounds incredibly fishy.  Is this really the recommended upgrade
procedure?

Also, what is this Crystal Enterprise thing?  Is it going to{*filter*}up my
previous IIS configuration?  I have a lot of ISAPI mapping in there.

Thanks, just hoping someone can ease my fears a bit.

Upgrading from CR8.0 to CR8.5 Report Designer is very easy and has no
problems.
In fact, if you have the Upgrade license, it looks for a prior version to
upgrade.

The problems are if you are using the CR8.0 Web Component Server.  CR8.5
replaces the  Web Componet Server with Crystal Enterprise.  Neither cause
any problems with IIS, but that part is not a clean upgrade or isntall.

The steps I would recommend....
1) Install CR8.5 on top of CR8.0
2) manaully remove any files relating to Web Component Server (in Current
User and Local Machine under Software/Seagate Software)
3) manually remove any registry entries relating to Web Component Server (In
Program Files/Seagate Software/...
4) Now Install Crystal Enterprise

I upgraded from 7 to 8.5 and it makes a mess of it every time (old files,
missing files, incorrectly registered files, etc).
The next time i'll spend a couple hundred dollars more buying the whole
version saving me $100.000.000 of worries...

CR: congrats on that!
