SQL 2000/Server not open yet error

Does anyone know if I need to have CR installed on the SQL 2000 Server in
order to pull up my reports. I have a VB6 program which uses CR8.5 and we
recently converted from Access to SQL2000 and now I get the following error
when trying to pull up reports. "Server has not yet been opened". I've
checked all the connections, set the location, and verified the report but
it still doesn't work. Now when I'm in VB and open up the report the data
link properties dialog box comes up like it's prompting me for the password?

The program did work before we reconfigured the server and now the only
difference we could think of is CR was installed on the server before and
it's not there now, so does it need to be is the question?

Hope this makes sense. Any suggestions would be helpful. TIA
bjay
