Crystal Report and VB application to e-mail reports contents

I am running a Crystal 7.0 report using a VB app which e-mail the report to
a number of users. Problem is that it takes forever since the report
(portions of it) need to be e-mailed to addresses which are looked up in an
Outlook address book. I suspect that the VB application is running the
report over and over again until all e-mails are send, does anyone know of a
way to kick off the report, then e-mail a portion of the report to different
addresses without running the report over and over again until all addresses
have been e-mailed?
Is there a way to set it up so that the report will run and then based on a
new group name that group(section) is e-mailed?
