I just finished a similar project. What we ended up doing was creating a
Crystal Query from the Oracle view, using the query to summarize as much as
possible. The reports (5 of them) were then created off the query. The query
ran each night after midnight and the reports ran during the day. Using the
query reduced the traffic on the Oracle server.
