Adding New Field to Existing Repot

I have a CR7 report with several fields on it. I've realised I didn't
include all the fields required when I designed it, but when I went to
add the missing field into the report the formatting of the entire
report changed.

I movde the existing fields around a lot when I designed the report at
first, and also added customised headers, etc and changed fonts. I used
the 'record expert' to add this new field in from an existing table I'm
reporting on and as soon as I clicked on 'preview report' all the
existing fields changed font back to the default, moved themselves
around (possibly to the original positions) and the headers, etc all
shrunk in size.

Any was around this?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

The report expert is great to start a report, but if you go back, it
rebuilds the report.  It does warn you it is doing that, and you cannot undo
it.

Most serious report developers ignore the report expert and format the
report manually.  If youa re not using one the predefined styles, it is
actually faster.

Use Custom for your report development.  You could easily have added the
field and shuffled a few columns around.

If you've got your original report if will be faster to restore it, and add
the field manually - and avoid the expert.

Good luck.

Cheers...might take your advice for the next one! I have discovered
that just doing Insert > Database Field works without doing any
formatting
