 crviewer not very 'smart'

Maybe I don't understand what you mean, but I just tried to export to Excel
and it works...
My crviewer.dll has the same version as yours (2.2.4.36) so I don't think
it's the problem... I use CR version 7 too...
I can't help you more... I don't know what's wrong, sorry... maybe, like you
said, your installation was incomplete or something like that...

I might be out to lunch here, but I know that Segate is effectively no
longer adding new features to the OCX. They're pretty clear in steering
people to CRPAUT or the Report Designer Component (CRAXDRT) if they wnat
to take advantage of the new "cool" features. So, the OCX you have is in
fact the current version that ships with Crystal Reports 7. The build
number has changed from version 6, but I'm willing to bet that it
doesn't support the export feature in the new viewers.

Like Frederique, I've used the new viewer and it works for me. But I was
using CRAXDRT in my project. I made the transition from the OCX to
automation sometime ago, it was painful at first but I can do a lot more
without having to worry about OCX limitations. Sorry I couldn't help
more, but I think you're out of luck.
