No one reads anything. I posted a problem on 12.21.1999 and no one has
even looked at it, much less provided any useful suggestion.

Bruce,

We apologize for the delay in our response.  Apparently, we are having a
systems problem that should have pulled your issue.  We are looking into
this as we speak.  As for your issue:

The common dialog showprinter method automatically manipulates the printer
object.  The following code demonstrates this functionality.

Private Sub Command1_Click()
    CommonDialog1.ShowPrinter
    MsgBox Printer.DeviceName
End Sub

If you need any additional assistance, please let us know.
Thanks,
Dale Roberson

Subject:  VB Printing and Common Dialog
I am trying to use the Common Dialog .ShowPrinter method and then set the
Printer object according to the users selections. I do not see how I can set
the Printer object by the Common Dialog .ShowPrinter method. It does not
return a devicename or a printer name or a Printers() collection index or
anything. How can I use a .hDC to set the Printer object?

Thank You!

Considering the fact that you are requesting help from others on a free
basis, what do you have to complain about?
If you'd like to leave your Credit Card Number and Expiry Date, someone will
get back to you, although payment for support does not necessarily gurantee
a response.
In the meantime, the entire newsgroup is chipping in to establish a 1800
number just for you.
Please hold whilst we redirect you to our complaints department ...

Why didn't anyone reply to my msg from before Christmas? Because there
is a bug in the system that does not display all the entries in the
newsgroup to the Microsoft Support staff under certain conditions. And
the conditions were right for my question to slip through the cracks.
But now my question has been found and answered. Thanks to the Microsoft
Staffers who helped me. But what about all you guys who just want to
give me a hard time? Is that why you come here?

        Bruce:

I just started reading this group , so I did not see your
first post but I would like to say this.

FYI. not all messages get answered. MOST messages the don't
get answered for one of the following reasons.

The question asked already has an answer and has been asked today,
yesterday and every day before.

The question is so far off base that it is clear the person does not
know what they are talking about and telling them this will start a
huge load of crap. I.E. "I purchased a used cessna 152 today and plan
to install a 747 engine in it so I can fly it at an altitud of 40,000
feet."

You have asked a question that has stumped every one on the group and
no one wants to admit that they have never seen, thought up or run
into this type of problem.

1/3 of the questions I post in the VB groups folks get no reply. I
post some really weard stuff.

The poster has a rep for being a really rude jerk (not calling you
one, just telling you what goes on in the other groups I visit)

you haven't put in enough info for someone to make a call.

IT is so off topic that it gets ignored

The subject may sound off topic or stupid
How do I?

I went to Deja News since your post was not still  on my list and I
would rate the question as one of those weard ones. In my experiences
the Common Dialog showprinter allows you to set the printer and if you
change the printer in the common dialog it becomes the default printer
for windows. If this is not correct do like I do when you find that
answer to your own question. post hte answer so the next guy or the
group gains from the hell you went threw........
