There is a reported bug in MSDN (reported in Juny 1999):

when putting transparent label on transparent ActiveX, the label does not appear
at all. If I use trueType font for the label, it appears jugged.

I did not find any workaround or any other way to put text with transparent
background on transparent ActiveX control - Sheridan controls also do not help.

Please help ASAP.

I've not tried this, but I expect you can draw text directly on the control
with .Print or TextOut()...or you could draw it on a MaskPicture...
