I need a faster grid than the msflexgrid. It must be able to do cell merging and be able to display an image within each cell. Can anyone recommend a good grid (commercial or free) that will do all these things?

This is a very good control and does lot more than what you require.
But this is not free.

I believe I've tried the demo version of that control and it is just as slow as the msflexgrid.
