Dear all,

I'm running VB6 SP5 on XP Pro.  The problem I'm experiencing happens
whenever I'm working with an ActiveX dll with any class that has its
MTSTransActionMode property set to anything other than "0 - NotAnMTSObject".
The DLL will *compile* just fine.  But if I try to enter debug mode, it
gives me the error message:

"System Error &H80004005 (-2147467259)"

Doing this *used* to work.  I was debugging DLLs as recently as one month
ago.  But something has happened since then to make it stop working.  A
colleague is experiencing exactly the same problem.  The only common thing
we can think of having done to our systems recently is installing SP1 for
the .NET Framework.

I'm currently preparing a test system to see if I can replicate the problem
by doing this.  But in the meantime, has anyone else seen this happen?  Or
know of a way to fix it?

We've managed to resolve this problem now.  The blame didn't lie with .NET
patches, or any newly installed software.  Rather, our organization has been
restructuring its domains, and the problem seems to be related to
permissions in some obscure way.

The problem only occurred where a user's account had been migrated from
domain X to domain Y, but the computer still belonged to domain X.  By
moving the computer to domain Y, the problem instantly went away.

(As a temporary workaround, the problem could also be sidestepped by logging
in to the workstation locally as Administrator.)

We still haven't figured out exactly *why* moving a user account, but not
the computer, causes this particular problem.  If anyone knows, I'm sure a
follow-up would be highly instructive....
