Invalid page fault in module kernel32.dll

I've built an app in VB5 SP3 on my NT4WS SP3 machine, and it runs (IDE &
EXE) no problem there. However, when I test the distribution to Win95 I get
the kernel32 pagefault error a second or two after the app exits. It happens
every time, on two Win95 machines here. The message quotes the fault address
as 0137:bff9a08c. One of the Win95 machines is non-OSR2 with SP1 and the
updated kernel32.dll, the other is OSR2.

I've spent this morning searching the KB and DejaNews, and have trawled
through the following long articles:
http://support/microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q164/5/19.asp
http://support/microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/q186/0/49.asp
trying all their suggestions but with no luck at all. DejaNews came up with
a lot of people complaining about this, or a similar, pagefault over the
last couple of months, but with little in the way of offered solutions.

I asked a colleague who has a similar NT4WS setup to make distribution disks
of the app, and those produced exactly the same pagefaults on the Win95
machines. Again, it runs fine on his machine.

Has anyone got solutions, ideas or similar woes?

Similar problem.  Access violation  0xc0000005 after an app runs for
several hours.  (No fancy controls on form)

I tracked down the problem, I think, after several hours. My theory at the
moment is that the updated kernel32.dll page faults when releasing memory
associated with objects which have been created with some flaw in their
structure. The original kernel32.dll was either more tolerant of such flaws,
or more robust in the way it dealt with them.

The component whose object I'm creating is a piece of 3rd-party middleware,
UniVerse Objects from Ardent Software (once Vmark Software). But it seems
that some Microsoft apps also create objects whose structures are similarly
flawed -- many MS Office95/97 components, according to article Q164519.

I will post more complete info when I receive it, for future reference.

I had this problem until I installed VB6.  Seems that Microsoft has
interesting ways of making people upgrade.

Ha!    LOL!     I only *got* this problem when I installed VB6!  Perhaps
there's a clue in there...
My EXE runs fine on an early, pre-IE4.01, Win95. However, as soon as I
upgrade the browser to IE4.01 I get the pagefault. If I uninstall IE4.01 it
goes away again. Win98 is no problem. I think Win95 OSR2 with IE4.01 is a
problem.  I notice a lot of new-ish articles on the MS KB about kernel32
pagefaulting in all sorts of apps, MS Office included. Does anyone have an
insight on this?
