 Display users machine name

Trying to find a method of finding a users current machine name or ip from
their user name.  Then ideally open a share on that machine.... take a few
seconds off help desk calls

TIA

 Display users machine name
Hi,
there are plenty of solutions for doing this:
name your computers including part of the user name;
have a script write it to a network share at logon, so
that you can retrieve it when needed...

I guess the best way to do it is to put bginfo in the
start menu of the pc, and let it display ip and
computername on the desktop, so that users with no
technical knowledge should be able to give you the info.

you can download it free from www.sysinternals.com

hope it helps;
Bruno
