Why don't you use System.Net.Sockets.* ?

Hmm, forgot about the .NET part, but the licence thing should still apply. I reccomend you take a look at the TCP classes.

Are you using VB Pro or above? Learning edition does not have a licence for Winsock, so you can't use it. If you are using Pro or above, there is a fix on the MS site to provide licences for the controls.
