Is there anyway to install the .net framework WITHOUT first having IE 5+
on the target machine?

Microsoft's download for the .net 1.1 framwork says you have to have IE
5 or higher installed.

Anyone try this without having IE installed on the target PC?

This is for a shrink wrap app that needs to be EASY to install.
Installing IE is NOT easy.  (This is software for 70 year olds. Think of
your grandmother using the computer <g>)
