 Beta 1 vs Beta 2

I was wondering if anyone out there has any stories of glory or misery
regarding switching from Beta 1 to Beta 2. I'm not talking about
installation issues, but rather system performance gains, reliability, and
things of the like.

Any facts (numbers) to back up your stories would be greatly appreciated. I
am trying to compose a memo to management to get them behind the time
investment it would take to migrate and what the benefits are.

Thanks in advance,
Russ

Very simple and to the point reason to move from Beta 1 to Beta 2.

Beta 1 code won't work against the release version of .NET.

Heck, Beta 2 might not either after MS gets finished, but Beta 1 is a
given - the new CLR breaks Beta 1 code.

no hard data, but beta 1 crashed regularly for me and beta 2 has been very
stable.  It is also noticeably faster.

Well, given that the framework changed substantially I don't see using beta
1 as having much value at all now.

I think above all is the documentation provided with Bata 2 is substantially
better. Crashes give you a line # where to start looking and what the
problem might be, didn't in B2.  Throw in a few features like being able to
trace the errors is big.

Russ,

The changes are so significant that management doesn't have a choice. Beta2
will be closer to RTM than Beta1, and while no one is going to make any
promises, it is quite possible that Beta2 is quite close to RTM in all those
pesky little details like naming, hierarchy structure, etc.

Working with beta1 was pure misery. Frequent crashes, slow, and SLOW!
Beta2 is a dream come true. Runs noticeably faster (not just a little bit
faster - there's quite a difference). I work in beta2 everyday and I haven't
had a crash yet and I installed B2 the first day it was released.

Other than that, why keep something around that is essentially garbage now
that the CLR has changed so much? Your management team would have to know
when you installed beta1 that it was just that, "beta1". When you put code
into production on a beta, you have to know that upgrades will be necessary
as it evolves.
