 Non-US date formats - coping with

I am using ASP, VB-Script and MS Access (Jet SQL) in Australia.
Local date format is Day/Month/Year

What I'm doing...

        varTimeEntered = Now
        Insert new record in which field TimeEntered = varTimeEntered
        Select record where TimeEntered = varTimeEntered

Problem...
        No matching record is found, apparently because of a mix-up in date
formats

I have encountered this problem before. Is there a simple and elegant
solution?

Thanks in advance
