 CreateObject("adodb.connection ") fails

hi --

i'm writing an asp script running on iis 5.0 on windows 2000
server (thus, MDAC 2.5).

Set db = CreateObject("adodb.connection")

results in the following error:

ActiveX component can't create object: 'ADODB.Connection'

it works fine on a different win2000 server. i've tried
running the mdac 2.5 installer and it says it's already
installed.

thanks
r
