ANN: Windows Script 5.5 Beta 1 available
Today we posted the first beta of Windows Script 5.5. Essentially it's an update of JScript to be ECMAScript 3 compliant and beefing up of VBScript regular expression support. There will be a new scripting clinic (written by the ever present Peter Torr this month) posted later this week covering some of the new features. http://www.*-*-*.com/ Enjoy Andrew

It's not there yet, it's not been approved - but I understand it's been finalised and submitted to the committee for formality of approval which should happen shortly, They don't make drafts available. So we'll have to wait and see how compatible it is with ECMAScript 3, The Script people obviously just want to be really, really quick of the bat... They could do with updating what they are doing though, as it doesn't seem to have been for some time (ISO standard was april 1998) http://www.ecma.ch/memento/tc39.htm Jim.

Sorry all VBScript readers - it was completely unintentional! My post made it to microsoft.public.inetsdk.programming.scripting.vbscript, but (for some reason) not to plain old microsoft.public.scripting.vbscript Peter -- Peter J. Torr - Microsoft Windows Script Program Manager

Hi, As soon as it gets done - it is a rather involved process! For the time being, you can manually extract the files (either by using WinZip, or by starting the installation process and copying the files from your Temp directory), copy them somewhere, and register them with regsvr32.exe Peter -- Peter J. Torr - Microsoft Windows Script Program Manager

OK, so the delay is with the MSI rather than any Windows Script issues? Thanks - I'll download the beta now! Chris
