Novice Java Script V.S.VB Script Question?

Is it true that VB Script will not work in Netscape, but Java Script
will run in both Netscape 4.0 and I.E. 4.0 or higher?  I would like to know
all the advantages before I invest a lot of time in learning one.

Thank You,
Michael

VBScript works only in IE unless you purchase a plugin for Netscape.  JScript and JavaScript are both compliant implementations of the ECMAScript specification.

It's worth your while to learn both since VBScript is the {*filter*} (and default) language for IIS/ASP server side code (which is completely browser neutral).

Well, VBScript does work in NN, but it needs a plug-in, that nobody has. So
practically, it doesn't work. Javascript is the prefered client-side
scripting language.
Javascript works form IE3.0 (I think) and NN1. (netscape designed the
language).

Well, VB Script is probably easier, but it is really only good for server
side scripting if you are doing Internet apps. You can run JavaScript on the
server side if you want to.

I think before it is all said and done, you will end up learning both
languages.

Then all you need to know is Java, VisualBasic, SQL, XML, HTML, TCP/IP,
Unix, NT, ....he he :-)

There is a reason why we are so well paid. This stuff ain't that easy.
