 how to disable mwm's close function

Hi,

is it possible to disable the mwm's close function from within tcl/tk

I tried

        option add *clientFunctions: -close

but without success.

TIA for any insight

Use the wm function:

        proc Noop {} {}
        wm protocol . WM_DELETE_WINDOW {Noop}

mwm's "close" button invokes the Window Manager protocol named
"WM_DELETE_WINDOW".  The above makes the main toplevel window uncloseable by mwm
(or any window manager).  You can still use xkill on it (nothing as far as I know can stop xkill).

See the protocols section under "man wm" for more information.

    MWMHintOverride in .fvwmrc to have a window manager,
    intelligent enought to get someone knowing what he does
    around.

    This option causes fvwm to display the 'application wanted
    to disable' menu entries shaded - but you can always
    invoke them and 'destroy' IS DONE by the Xserver.

    That's the way to do it. Tell the user "It's dangerous".
    But never restrict software developers - they should know
    what they do so they need an 'override-mode' normally not
    enabled for any looser-user.

Until later, Jan
