Put zero(00) in file?

 Put zero(00) in file?

        How can I get 1 byte of zero in a file?
        None of these seem to store zero and increment file pointer.

        puts -nonewline $f \x0
        puts -nonewline $f \000
        puts -nonewline $f [ format "%c" 0 ]
