Trace on C variables

 Trace on C variables

Is there anyway to have a TCL function execute when a C variable changes?
Alternatively, is there anyway way for a TCL function to use the trace command
on a variable that's linked to C code and have it execute when the C function
changes that value?

I have a variable in C linked to a variable in TCL, and I'd like to have a
certain TCL function called when The C variable is modified.  Trace seems to
work only when the TCL interpreter changes the value of the variable.

Any ideas?
