 os.system/os.popen ultrasparc

Hi folks,

  Configuration: Solaris2.5.1, 8way-UltraSparc

I am getting random segmentation faults/bus errors while calling
os.system and os.popen (or anything else that involves forking).

Here's what purify has to say (BTW, my python program is frozen):
  ----------------------------------------------------------------------
  UMR: Uninitialized memory read
  This is occurring while in:
            system         [libc.so.1]
            *unknown func* [pc=0xeffff9b0]
            PyImport_ExecCodeModule [libPython.a]
            PyImport_ImportFrozenModule [libPython.a]
            main           [frozenmain.o]
            _start         [crt1.o]
Reading 4 bytes from 0xeffffa64 on the stack.
Address 0xeffffa64 is 4 bytes below frame pointer in function system.
  ----------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: I used to run the above program on a 8way-SparcServer/Solaris2.5
  with no problems.

  Any/all help/suggestions appreciated. Thanks,

- Naveen

Hi,

Thought this might give more info..
Another run of the program (crashes at a different place).. but still
  on a os.system call.

  RUN2:
  ----------------------------------------------------------------------
  UMR: Uninitialized memory read
  This is occurring while in:
            system         [libc.so.1]
            _libc_fork     [libc.so.1]
Reading 4 bytes from 0xeffff5b4 on the stack.
Address 0xeffff5b4 is 4 bytes below frame pointer in function system.
