Compiling Perl5.001m on AIX 4.1.3 using AIX C

Has anyone successfully compiled perl 5.001m on AIX 4.1.3 using the AIX
C compiler?  The makefile compiles successfully until the Dynaloader portion,
and I am geting a Reference miscount in sv_replace() in
./../lib/File/basename.pm followed by a segmentation fault (core dump).
Any help getting past this error will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know what they've changed, but my co-worker had A LOT of problems
with perl5.001x (any of them) on AIX 4.1.  I stumbled upon a site that
had modified the code/hints (or something).  Try the source tree at:

http://aixpdslib.seas.ucla.edu/languages/perl4.html

(The '4' is for AIX, not perl.)
