 Dial Up Connection

Does anyone know if it is possible to write a Perl program to make a
dial up connection.

or, do you know of any example programs (in Perl) that already do this?

If this is not possible - any ideas why?

thanks

Of course it is.

But could you be more specific about the requirements?  Do you
want to dial up a number using a serial port and a modem?  Or
do you have something else in mind?

Sure :

#!/usr/bin/perl -w

use strict;

my $user = shift || 'gellyfish';

my $pppd = '/usr/sbin/pppd';
my $device = '/dev/modem';
my $speed  = '57600';

my $chat = q%/usr/sbin/chat -t 45 -v ABORT BUSY "" ATW1X4DT08457336000 CONNECT '"\b \b}"\c'%;

You dont expect me to have implemented pppd and chat in Perl now do you ?
